School Spirit

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week, which takes place in February, kicked off this year (2016) with an Open House for potential new families to the school and an outreach project giving blankets made by the students to the ACTS homeless shelter. It's also St. Jude's Math-a-Thon week and the celebration of the Feast of St. Blasé Blessing of Throats. Class projects were also on display. The week culminated with a PTO movie night at the school.

St. Nicholas Day

In the past, the school community has also celebrated the Feast of St. Nicholas. Saint Nicholas was a fourth century bishop of Myra in what is now Turkey. He was known for his compassion and generosity. Candy canes are signs of his bishop's crosier, which is itself a form of a shepherd's crook.

To depict the spirit of the season the students placed one of their school shoes in the hallway and elves distributed candy into the shoes.

Spirit Day (2016) - Kindergarten - Grade 5 students performed musical selections for the school community. Sports team participants were congratulated on a job well done and students displayed their school spirit for each of the teams. Congratulations to Grade 5 - Class with the most school spirit!
