Preschool - Mrs. Gisela Land and Mrs. Virginia Peitler

Classroom Curriculum

Saint Francis Preschool has a three year olds' program and a four year olds' program. For the three year olds' program, children must turn three by September 30th. For the four year olds' program, children must turn four by September 30th. St. Francis Preschool is licensed through the state of Virginia and the Arlington Diocese. All children must be fully potty trained.

Three year olds

This class meets twice a week: Tuesday, Thursday 8:15 - 11:15 a.m.

The three year olds' program focuses on socialization within a group setting. This includes modeling conflict resolution by teaching the proper tools such as using words to resolve conflict and needs, along with group interaction.  Since children learn best at the concrete level, the curriculum is geared to engage children in activities that are age appropriate in all areas of learning.  The three year olds' program includes growing spiritually, emotionally, physically and academically.

Four year olds

St. Francis Preschool offers two Pre-Kindergarten classes for four year olds:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:15 - 11:15 a.m.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.

The Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on all skills covered in the three year olds' program and a continuation thereof with a greater emphasis on age appropriate activities to prepare the children for Kindergarten. The curriculum includes letter and number recognition, phonemics/phonics, fine and gross motor skills, critical thinking, science and religion.
