Grade 4: Mari Kotwicki kotwickimari@yahoo.com Karen Keeven September 8, 2008 Dear Parents, Welcome to Fourth Grade!! We are excited to see all your children’s smiling faces and abounding enthusiasm for learning. This should be a great year! Please know that we are available at your request if you should have any concerns or questions. Feel free to call the school office at any time to make arrangements for a telephone call or conference. We feel confident that the success of your children is dependent on us working together as a team-both teacher and parent on the same side. There are a few things we would like to bring to your attention about the new year. Currently, we have been spending a great amount of time organizing the children for their day. We have been working on filling out the agendas correctly and bringing the proper items home. Please be sure to review the agenda nightly and check to be sure that your child has completed all the necessary homework. By signing the agenda you are affirming that you have checked homework for completion and accuracy. Beginning Monday September 8th, homework diaries will be in effect. Please see the attached sample form. Each Friday your child will bring home a red folder containing work from the previous week. Inside the front cover will be his/her homework diary sheet for that week. Please take time to review your child’s work, the diary sheet and any notes from us. On Monday return the red folder with the signed diary sheet and any tests/quizzes that require signing. Even if the homework diary has no entries, please sign and return it. By doing so we are assured that work and notes are being seen. If there is anything we can do to promote this, please let us know. Please refrain from writing notes to us in the agendas as these are sometimes missed until late in the day. Instead, we would prefer a separate note delivered by your child. We are also attaching a copy of the While You Were Out form. When your child is absent, this form is filled out with any missing class or homework. If you would like this to be sent home, please call the office to let us know. Sometimes a child is too ill to work and as such we will only send it to the office or home with another student, at your request. It is our belief that extended absences for vacations, etc. can be very detrimental to your child’s learning. If this is unavoidable please understand the difficulty involved in providing work ahead of time. Please remember to mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 10th. We look forward to seeing you then. God Bless, Mari Kotwicki Karen Keeven P.S. Please remember to pack a healthy snack everyday. P.P.S. Following is the list of 4th grade specials. Monday- Spanish and Band Tuesday- Music, Computer and Library Wednesday- Health and Liturgical Music Thursday- P.E. and Spanish Friday- Mass and Art |
